Why I Love March...

I love March!!  For a few reasons...

1.  It's my boyfriend Leif's birthday on the 31st and he is the reason we have "Sweets Mix."  I created this one day in the kitchen and he loved it so much he kept saying you should sell this stuff....so I named it after him, also Leif is one of the big reasons I started Sweet Mary's.  He is an anchor in me and my daughters lives and makes us laugh and smile everyday!

2.  I have two sisters that were born this month:  Julie who is one of the funniest, creative individuals on the planet and Carrie who is one of the most talented, savvy business women I know!  Carrie takes all of the beautiful photos of my product!  http://crbphotography.com/blog/

3.  ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

I grew up in Belle Plaine, Minnesota.  One of my favorite memories of St. Patrick's Day was the St. Patrick's Day Parade & The St. Patrick's Day Coin Hunt.  It's a big event whether you are Irish or not.... The parade is made up of families who are Irish and they walk main street wearing green, shamrocks and any other wacky items containing the color green!  The Fogarty family always let me and my younger sister Beth join with them and ride on their float!  It was awesome even though it was always raining and freezing :) 

There are moments now that I am a Mother I wish I lived closer to good ol' BP so my girls could experience these fun small town events... I make a constant effort to create new traditions and lasting memories for my girls.  They love to hear my wild tales of growing up and I hope one day they will sit with their kids and share the fun things we did. 

One thing besides making sweet treats that I am passionate about is the power of story!  It's amazing how sharing a story or a memory with someone creates a feeling of gratitude and happiness!  If you don't believe me try it :)  Share a happy memory with someone and feel the smile in your heart and the smile on that persons face!  To make that moment extra sweet try a bag of our "Sweets Mix" with it... tee hee!!

What girl doesn't like Pink & Red?

We had so much fun creating our Valentines Sweets!!

My little girls were so excited to see PINK on our apples & popcorn!  One of my favorite Valentine Day memories as a child was making custom Valentine Day Cards in Mrs. Einertson's 4th grade class for all of my class mates... she had us create our own mailboxes so our hand-made cards could be delivered in style :) 

I hope our Sweets put a smile on your face and make you feel like a kid again!
I know I smiled the entire time I made these... I LOVE VALENTINES DAY!!! 

About Sweet Mary

You could say us Riesgraf girls love our caramel and chocolate!

Since I was a child I have loved baking in the kitchen with my amazing mother and my five beautiful sisters. A box of chocolates didn't last long in our home…since from a very young age I could identify the caramel ones and devour them before anyone else had a chance.
 
I have passed this love of sweets down to my three daughters. There is no greater joy I feel than being in the kitchen baking and creating yummy sweets with my girls. If you come into our home at any time you will find all sorts of different creations one of us has dreamed up.  We have even been known to have bake offs (I am, of course, the judge).
 
Six years ago I decided to start giving my homemade sweets for Halloween and holiday gifts.  I started with White Chocolate Popcorn and then moved into Caramel Chocolate Apples. Before I knew it I was making 200 apples every holiday. My friends and family posted pictures on Facebook and Twitter and others started getting asking why they didn't receive any, so I decided to start Sweet Mary's.

 Everything I create is made with so much love, thought, time, and the very best ingredients available. I hope you enjoy Sweet Mary's sweets as much I as enjoy making them for you.
